PDP issuing illegitimate diktats to Rural Development Department : NC
Anantnag: National Conference on Monday lashed out at the PDP, especially Minister for Rural Development Haq Khan for politicizing the Rural Development Department and issuing illegitimate diktats to its employees asking them to attend PDP functions. In a statement issued from Anantnag, NC leader and MLA Pahalgam, Altaf Kaloo and NC Leader and MLA Homshalibug Abdul Majeed Larmi said the Rural Development Minister had sent instructions to thousands of employees of the Rural Development Department for Anantnag District to attend his function at Hiller Shahbad on Tuesday.
“PDP is being met with disdain and indifference all across the Valley and when the party is unable to gather even its own workers to attend functions it is now resorting to exploiting and coercing employees of the Rural Development Department to attend its functions. All VLWs, GRSs and BDOs in addition to other employees of the department have been asked to attend the function at Hiller Shahbad on Tuesday or face dire consequences”, the NC leaders said.
The NC Leaders and MLA Pahalgam said these were coercive and illegal measures being taken by an unpopular Government and an even more unpopular political party out of sheer desperation.
“If employees of an entire District have to start attending PDP functions and leave their important, public-grievance related work to bolster the ego of Ministers who are forcing employees to attend such functions – what will be the State of affairs in these departments? The people are suffering enormous hardships as work in these departments has suffered tremendously because of such attitude by the ruling dispensation”, the NC Leaders and Legislators from South Kashmir added.
The NC Leaders said similar tactics were employed to force government employees to attend various election meetings of the PDP during the run-up to the subsequently cancelled Anantnag by-polls.
