Thousands participate in funeral prayers of Hizb militants in Pulwama

Srinagar : Thousands of people on Saturday morning participated in the last rites of two Hizb militants who were killed during an encounter with government forces in Tikken area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.

Reports said that emotional scenes were witnessed from the spot after the bodies of the duo Liyaqat Ahmed Wani and Wajid Ahmed were lifted towards their respective graveyards in Bellow and Babhara area of Pulwama.

They said the bodies of the slain militants were carried by mourners in a procession amidst vociferous pro-freedom sloganeering.

“Multiple rounds of funeral prayers were offered for the two militants as more and more people joined in,” eyewitnesses said.

The two Hizb militants were killed early this morning in Tikken village of this south Kashmir district leading to a spontaneous shutdown and violent protests.
