Tral gunfight over, says ,police

Srinagar: With the killing of a militant, a policeman and an army man, the gunfight at Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district has come to an end, police said on Tuesday. Two soldiers were also injured in the gunfight.

According to a senior police official the gunfight is over, however, searches are still going on in the area.

Earlier, the gunfight broke out between the militants and the joint team of army’s 42 RR, SOG and CRPF after they launched a cordon and search operation at Goitengo forests in Laam village.

Sources had said that the group of militants believed to be three in number fled from the spot following the exchange of fire. However, contact was again established with the militants.

In the exchange of firing one SOG personal identified as Latif Gojri also sustained serious bullet wounds. The cop succumbed on the way to hospital, he said.

Earlier, a soldier Ajay Kumar of 42 RR who was injured in the initial exchange of gunfire succumbed to injuries at 92 base hospital here in Srinagar.
