Geelani barred from marching to Shopian by Polic

Srinagar:  Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Geelani on Wednesday was not allowed to move out of his residence where he has been placed under detention.

A spokesman of the outfit said that a posse of policemen deployed outside Geelani’s residence in Hyderpora prevented him from coming out.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik had called for ‘Shopian chalo’ today to express solidarity with the people and offer condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in Sunday’s clashes.

The leadership was also planning to hold a rally at Shopian.
