Army allegedly injures elderly person after opening fire on him

An elderly man was injured after army allegedly opened fire in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday.
An eye witness said that army opened fire following an altercation between soldiers and civilians over the thrashing of a youth.
The injured, identified as 60-year-old Mohammad Abdullah Ganaie, was shifted to a hospital in Srinagar for specialised treatment.
He said that passers-by, including Ganaie, staged a protest after army men thrashed a scooty rider in Goriwan area.
