With a dip in the tourist footfall across Jammu and Kashmir, J&K government is trying to revive this important sector.

After the April 22 Pahalgam attack, security grid of Jammu and Kashmir has closed or restricted access to over 40 meadows, trekking routes, hilly areas, parks and gardens.

Omar Abdullah has no authority to reopen these tourist destinations and such powers are with LG and Union Home Ministry.

With limited ruin to manver, Omar Abdullah is feeling it very difficult even to revive tourism in Kashmir as the dual power structure has made him having a lot of difficulties to take issues head on.

Omar Abdullah has told reporters recently that he is seeking support as J&K is facing unprecedented circumstances.

With very less tourist footfall to Kashmir, tourism stakeholders are waiting for figures crossed for the revival of this industry.

Many tourist destinations included Doodhpathri and Yusmarg in central Kashmir, Bungus valley in north Kashmir, Daksum, Sinthan top and some gardens in south Kashmir and a few prominent places in Srinagar are still closed for tourists.

Amid such restrictions how Omar Abdullah government would be able to revive tourism is a million dollar question.

Is Omar only making right noises with no powers?
