Over One Million Outpatient Visits at SMHS Hospital in 2023-24; 10,000 Visitors Daily
SRINAGAR: SMHS Hospital receives around 10,000 visitors daily, including patients, attendants, and other visitors while the Casualty and Emergency Department alone handles about 3,200 patients each day, providing consultations, treatment, testing, and other care services.
The hospital offers inpatient services across various wards with a total capacity of 890 beds. On average, 30 major and 60 minor procedures are performed daily. In the 2023-24 period, the Outpatient Department attended to 1,063,028 patients, while 107,589 patients were treated in the Inpatient Department. Additionally, 10,726 major and 12,543 minor surgeries were conducted.
SMHS Hospital performs approximately 6,000 lab tests daily, with lab services available around the clock. Daily imaging includes 30 MRIs, 450 USGs, 125 CT scans, and about 400 X-rays.
Sanitation and hygiene are top priorities, with a dedicated team of 35 sanitation workers conducting a three-shift cleaning routine—morning, afternoon, and evening. The cleaning of major areas, including the Casualty and certain wards, is outsourced to ensure proper maintenance.
