A mathematics teacher from Leh district in Ladakh UT, who has tested positive for coronavirus, has become an inspiration for society as well as other patients.

Admitted to Mahakaruna Charitable Hospital, Kifayat Hussain has defied all psychological challenges faced by Covid patients and continues to teach his students online.

When I tested positive, I was worried and tense. But the warm approach of doctors and nurses at the hospital towards patients changed my perception and boosted my spirit to fight the disease by engaging in what I love to do, which is teaching. — Kifayat Hussain, Maths teacher

This has earned him more love and respect and has also made him an inspiration for others fighting coronavirus.

At the hospital, Kifayat has converted his room in the isolation ward into a classroom from where he interacts with his student through the Zoom App and other social media platforms, such as WhatsApp.

He said, “When I tested positive, I was worried and tense. But the warm approach of doctors and nurses at the hospital towards patients changed my perception and boosted my spirit to fight the disease by engaging in what I love to do, which is teaching.”

He said he records and uploads more than two videos daily on his YouTube channel and conducts a live class on the Zoom App, answering the queries of students.

The maths teacher has not done it alone. He said he had got the cooperation of the principal and the school management in obtaining the permission from the UT administration to conduct the classes from the hospital.
