GMC Srinagar, Forest Deptt organizes plantation drive
SRINAGAR, MARCH 7: Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar conducted plantation drive in collaboration with Urban Forestry Division, Srinagar under the ‘Green J&K Drive’.
The plantation programme was inaugurated by Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Prof. Samia Rasheed.
Speaking on the occasion, she said that the initiative has been taken to cover open space with greenery in the college campus.
“The aim of plantation initiative is to provide healthy atmosphere to the patients which is essential for their speedy recovery,” she said.
HOD Community Medicine, Prof. S. Muhammad Salim Khan said that around 200 conifer saplings provided by J&K Forest Department will be planted at SDH Hazratbal, PHC Nishat, PHC Harwan, PHC Tailbal and HC Fakir Gujri.
Present on the occasion were Information and Publicity Officer of Forest Department Zahid Ahmad Wani, Nazir Benazir Chairman National Society for Protection of Water Resources, Wetlands and Forests, Coordinator of the event Dr. Iram Sabah, Dr. Sheikh Salim, Registrar Community Medicine, Mysir-ul-Zaman , Range Officer and students of GMC Srinagar and concerned forest officers.
