Mehbooba pushed to corner by BJP’s aggressive stand on Kashmir
Clamour for PDP to come out of “unholy” alliance with BJP is only becoming louder as Mehbooba Mufti is only getting snubbed by the centre on agenda of alliance and talks with separatists. Amit Shah who is in Jammu has reportedly told BJP cadres to prepare for next elections and move out of Jammu to Kashmir and Ladakh with an eye for majority in J&K assembly.
Informed sources told vov on Sunday that Amit Shah’s remark that nation comes first is a clear indication for PDP that they are free to move out of the coalition as BJP wants to start massive crackdowns, anti militancy operations in Kashmir to deal with growing protests.
Co author of agenda of alliance Ram Madhav who is in charge of J&K state has also made it clear that there would be no talks with separatists and called them anti nationals. As state governor N.N Vohra has been called to New Delhi, governor’s rule in J&K state is still an option.
PDP is the main loser in twenty five month long collation and its popularity in Kashmir valley has taken a dip. Mehbooba Mufti is in extremely difficult situation if she resigns ,she has already lost ground especall in South Kashmir. During her rule there have been about hundred civilian killings with girls and children blinded in Kashmir unrest of 2016. The opposition parties have already painted her as a face of RSS in Kashmir who is presiding over killings and mayhem in Kashmir unleashed by government of India.
Mehbooba Mufti is not in a position to resign and go to the people to seek mandate. But her each day in power is a game of diminishing returns for her party PDP. With centre not ready to implement her policy of reconciliation and talks with separatists and Pakistan she is proving her own words true. She said after taking oath as first woman CM of J&K state, ” I know I can be politically consumed by heading this coalition government and I am ready for it”. Perhaps she has been consumed politically by continuing in the coalition of BJP.
