MORE RED AREAS
Right from Ladakh to downtown Srinagar to Jammu region authorities have declared many red zones as COVID-19 virus is spreading at an alarming pace. Government has declared many containment areas and they have sealed all the entry and exit roads to these localities, in order to avoid the further spread of virus.
The next step of the authorities is to go for door to door testing as the central government has already instructed all authorities including in UT of Jammu and Kashmir to double their efforts for the testing of suspect cases.
In the containment areas, strict curfew like restrictions have been enforced by police and authorities in order to avoid the spread of infection at the community level. On Friday, police and authorities strictly enforced closure of Masjids and shrines in order to maintain the social distance among the residents.
The only method available with the administration at this time to combat coronavirus is to keep people indoors and not allow them to mix freely either in the morning or evening hours. Residents of Srinagar city have responsibility to adhere to the directives of the government in order to save their lives and also of their dear ones.
Social distancing and staying indoors is the only mantra to avoid spread of COVID-19 in Srinagar city. Authorities should devise a mechanism for the proper supply chain so that people do not crowd the shops and vendors while going for purchasing the essential items.
