Keran hots-up again, heavy shelling going on

Kupwara: latest reports on Friday afternoon said that heavy shelling was going on in the Keran sector of Kupwara while the authorities have blocked the internet services till further orders.
Reports from Keran reaching to Kupwara said that villagers have been hearing huge sounds of shelling and most of them are frightened by such heavy shelling in the area. there are no immediate reports from any injuries and damage of the properties in the villages near the forward posts. Police said that they were monitoring the situation in Keran and refused to give any further details.
It is in place to mention that few days back heavily armed militants crossed over from the Keran sector and after days of fighting they were killed. Army by helicopter dropped para commandos of special forces in Keran and five of them including a JCO were killed in this hand to hand fight with militants. Security agencies have already indicated that hundreds of militants were waiting and the launch pads to cross over and infiltration attempts have increased in this month of April.
Meanwhile news reports said that SSP Kupwara A S Dinkar confirmed cross-LoC firing in Keran.
He said internet will be restored shortly.
