COVID-19: 23 more test positive in J-K; tally rises to 207
Srinagar: Twenty-three more cases of the novel coronavirus have been detected in Jammu and Kashmir. The tally has risen to 207; among them 168 are from Kashmir Valley and thirty-nine are from Jammu.
Talking to The Kashmir Walla, Dr. G H Yatoo, Nodal Officer for the coronavirus at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science, Soura, said that out of the news positive cases, ten are from north Kashmir. “Seven patients are from Baramulla and three are from Kupwara,” he said.
Today, twenty-five test reports came to be positive, but those included fresh samples of two already-positive cases.
In Jammu, the officials said, four patients are the contacts of a 61-year-old woman, who died on 8 April and are all residents of Udhampur district. The home town of the deceased woman who was cremated at Jammu yesterday “in accordance with her wish.”
Among 207 cases, 168 patients are in Kashmir and thirty-nine are from Jammu division.
Earlier in the day, Lieutenant Governor of J-K, G. C. Murmu, said, “We have 17,000 N-95 masks, 13,000 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) kits, and 200 ventilators. We will soon have 80,000 rapid testing kits which will be used in red zones identified here, for early detection of COVID-19.” (With inputs from GNS)
