Several villages declared red zones to prevent Covid-19 spread in Kupwara

Srinagar, April 05 (KNS):Baghbella, Tanghdar and Quarantine Centre at ITI Handwara have been declared as red zones in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district after 6 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Kupwara on Saturday.
Invoking prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, Disaster Management Act and The Epidemic Disease Act, District Magistrate Kupwara said there would be no inward and outward movement of any person from the villages declared red zones and the people would stay at their homes to ensure complete lockdown.
In this regard, the District Magistrate on Saturday issued the order according to which, BaghbellaTanghdar and Quarantine Centre at ITI Handwara fall in the red zone category while adjoining villages of these tehsils have been declared buffer zones, for the of safety and well-being of general public.
The district officials said, “The area has become more vulnerable as far as further transmission of the Covid-19 virus is concerned. It is necessary to break further transmission of the disease in the area and it becomes imperative to take stringent precaution.
As per government statement the CDPO Tandhar and Tehsildar Handwara shall act as administrators for red and buffer zones declared in their respective jurisdictions as indicated above.
The administrators have been directed to ensure that screening of Households in the Red Zone and furnish information.
“The Administrators shall be assisted by Concerned BDOs and all the officers of the line departments to ensure the availability of basic facilities including food grains, LPG, medicines etc in the red/buffer zones. They shall promptly respond to medical emergencies and the concerned BMOs shall dedicate one ambulance each for their respective areas,” the order reads.
Any person/group/organization found involved in the breach of this order shall be booked under relevant laws, the order added.
