State level Seminar on “Arabic – the Language of Life” organised at GDC Beerwah

BUDGAM, MARCH 11: As part of an initiative of the Department of Higher Education, Government Degree College Beerwah organised a one day seminar on Learning Outcomes-based Curriculum Framework (LOCF).

The theme of seminar was Arabic: the Language of Life. The key purpose was to ponder upon the subject and highlight various aspects of LOCF for Under Graduate Courses.

The seminar was attended by various stakeholders of Arabic language – faculty members of concerned subjects from various colleges, Under-Graduate Board of Studies members, Arabic language scholars from various private institutions and students.

The seminar was presided over by Principal GDC Beerwah Prof. Neelan Jan Shah and coordinated by Head Department of Arabic, GDC Beerwah Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Shah. The chief guest for the seminar was Prof. Shad Hussain of Department of Arabic, University of Kashmir, and the guest of honour was Dr. Abdul Waheed of Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora.

In addition to two keynote speeches, the seminar had two technical sessions in which around 15 papers were presented. Speakers reflected on potential of Arabic to serve humanity in numerous arenas.

Discussions were held around curriculum framework that will nurture analytical skills among students; techniques that will pave a way forward for making not only the outcomes of curriculum of this language applicable but rather improve its community based utility; innovations that will make subject more attractive; and the role of various stakeholders in attaining these.

Most of the participants reported this seminar being a milestone in taking Arabic Language and its Literature to new heights in this part of the world.
