Animal Husbandry deptt organizes training cum awareness camp at Bonakoot
BANDIPORA, MARCH 10: The Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora organized a day-long awareness-cum-training programme at Bonakoot village under special Assistance to the States for Control of Animal Diseases (ASCAD) scheme, here today.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Altaf Kangoo was chief guest on the occasion. The programme was attended by a sizable number of cattle and poultry rerears besides, doctors and technical staff of the department
Assuring farmers of full support of the department, Dr Kangoo asked them to take benefits of welfare schemes formulated for them. He asked the farmers to be in touch with the departments’ technical staff for any assistance.
During the programme, experts deliberated on various issues including mastitis and its prevention and control, de-worming and rabies. The prevention and safety measures to be taken against NCOVID-19 (Coronovirus) threat were also discussed.
Technical Officer, Dr Arif Khan briefed the farmers about the Programme and informed them about various centrally and state sponsored schemes available with the department for their welfare. He urged the farmers to remain in close contact with the department to avail the benefits of these schemes.
Dr Mohammad Ramzan Chopan informed the participants about the treatment of several diseases including Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD). Farmers were also sensitized about the hygiene and necessary care that need to be taken while dealing with cattle and poultry in order to prevent possibility of spreading diseases from animals to humans.
During the programme, representatives from J&K bank and Lead Bank informed about social security schemes including KCC, DEDS, PVSF besides, various loan schemes available for the farmers.
Among others, Block Veterinary Officer, Dr AA War, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Senior Pharmacist and technical officers were present on the occasion.
