Asnoor without electricity in holy month of Ramadan

Kulgam: The areas around Asnoor village of Kulgam district are without electric supply in this holy month of Ramadan. The villagers said that in the past few weeks the transformer was damaged twice and was replaced twice. Giving details the village elders said that on the instructions of ground staff of the PDD department in their village they collected money several times in the recent past for the repair of transformer. They said it is a routine in the far flung areas of Kulgam district to collect money and give it to PDD employees for the repair of transformer.
Recently, Asnoor village again collected money and handed it over to the PDD ground staff for the repairs. Four days back they brought the transformer back and it could run only for few hours and is now again to be replaced.
Appealing the Executive Engineer of PDD of Kulgam to intervene and save them from the exploitation of PDD ground staff, the people have urged them to repair the transformer without any delay. They said that in this holy month of Ramadan they have been forced to remain in darkness especially at the Sehri and Iftar hours.
