Director Horticulture visits hailstorm-affected areas

Director Horticulture Kashmir Aijaz Ahmad Bhat today visited different hailstorm-affected areas of district kulgam which include the villages of Gopalpora,Nihama, Yaroo Hazratbal, Bathipora, etc.
He was acompanied by Cheif horticulture officer kulgam, Mushtaq Ahmad, Tehsildar Noorabad and expects from KVK Pombay.
During the visit Bhat interacted with the affected farmers and ensured them of every possible technical assistance by the department. Director gave on spot instructions to the concerned field officers to take up the impact assessment assignment seriously and accomplish the entire exercise within days positively.
The experts imparted awareness among the orchardists and farmers about the schedule of sprays to reduce the impact of the hailstorm.
The farmers were advised to follow the spray schedule advisory strictly and to spray Mancozeb 75wb(300g) per 100 ltr of water, propineb70wb(300g) per 100 ltr of water)or Zineb75 wp (300g) per 100 ltr of water)

farmers were also advised to induce spray of urea @0.2%( 200 gm per 100 litters of water.
The farmers were advised that they can also make spray of myclobutanil 10wp 50gm per 100 litre + urea100gm per 100 litre water for hailstorm affected orchards.
yesterday’s strong hailstorm damaged crops in several areas of district kulgam and today director visited the area to asses the situation.
Later director inspected Various nurseries in the district to take stock of these nurseries where he was briefed about the various varieties which are planted there. He also urged the officers for propagation of high tech plantation in the area. He also Interacted with various delegation of orchardists.
