Pulwama, Shopian districts in south Kashmir shut against militant killings; clashes erupt

Srinagar: Intense clashes between local youth and government forces erupted at Muran Chowk in Pulwama on Thursday amid a spontaneous shutdown.

Reports said that soon after the news of the killing of three militants spread, people especially youth took to streets and pelted government forces.

The gunfight erupted between militants and government forces on Thursday morning following the inputs of the presence of militants in Yarwan area of Keller.

Three local militants were killed in a gunfight on Thursday morning in Yarwan area of Keller in Shopian district of South Kashmir.

The slain militants were identified as Aqib Ahmad, a resident of Bhatnoora Lassipora Pulwama, Basharat Ahmad, a resident of Wasoora Pulwama and Sajad Khanday, a resident of Bamnoo Keller

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Pulwama and Shopian districts of south Kashmir.
