First phase of randomization of EVM-VVPATs held at Budgam

           BUDGAM, : 1st phase of randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) for Lok Sabha Election 2019 was held at New Conference Hall Budgam.

          The randomization was held under the supervision of District Election Officer, (DEO) Budgam in presence of AROs and representatives of political parties. The process allocated Ballot Units, Control Units and VVPATs among five assembly segments of Budgam, through EMS software randomly with 20% reserved Ballot Units, control Units and VVPATs in each segment. The total allocated Ballot Units, Control Units and VVPATs allocated in five segments of Budgam are 751 units each.

          Earlier, speaking on the occasion during inaugural session, DEO Budgam, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar elaborated on the significance of randomization, its objective of ensuring confidence and openness in the election process for ensuring free and fair elections.
