Funding case: NIA summons Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to New Delhi
Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency on Saturday summoned Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to its headquarters in New Delhi.
Mirwaiz, sources said, has bee asked to present himself before the investigators at its New Delhi head office.
Pertinently, on 26 Feb last month, the NIA raided Mirwaiz’s residence at Nigeen and searched the premises for over six hours.
Mirwaiz along with octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF chairperson Yasin Malik comprise of the Joint Resistance Leadership.
The NIA is conducting investigations into an alleged funding case in the valley. Many Hurriyat leaders have been detained at New Delhi’s Tihar jail in the case.
