Srinagar: Parts of Pulwama district in  south Kashmir are shut for the fourth consecutive day against civilian killings in Sirnoo village of the district on Saturday.

Witnesses said that all shops and other business establishments are shut while transport remained off the roads in major towns of the district.

The colleges, coaching centres and other government offices are closed while mobile internet services are also shut in the district and other south Kashmir districts.

Witnesses said that the authorities have made additional deployments of government forces in the district to prevent protests against the killings.

On Saturday, seven civilians were killed after the government forces opened fire on protesters following a gunfight that left three militants and a soldier dead.

Soon after the civilian killings, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) — an amalgam of pro-freedom leadership — called for three-day shutdown and mourning to protest against the civilian killings.
