Two Hizb militants arrested in Awantipora in south Kashmir: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two local Hizb Ul Mujahideen militants at Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

“At a Naka (checkpoint) established at Panzgam in Awantipora, Police and security forces intercepted two persons and during their checking recovered arms & ammunition from their possession which includes UBGL, grenades & live rounds and other incriminating materials,” said a police spokesman.

He identified the duo as Jan Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh resident of Kaweni Dugripora and Nasir-ul-Islam son of Shabir Ahmad Shah resident of Panzgam.

“Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and preliminary investigation in the instant matter has revealed that the duo are affiliated with HM outfit. Further investigation in the instant matter is going on,” he said.
