Rumour of local militant’s killing triggers clashes in Pampore, 2injured
Srinagar : Two people have sustained injuries after clashes broke out between the government forces and people in Pampore areas of south Kashmir’s Pulwama town, after the rumors of killing of militant Mohammad Amin Mir, from Pampore, in Budgam gunfight.
Mir was killed along with his associate Mukhtar Ahmed Khan, in Zagoo Arizal area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
The clashes started after rumors started that militant killed in Budgam encounter is a local from Pampore. Reports said that scores of the protestors in Kadlebal and Drangbal have started pelting stones on government forces. Reports also suggest that a woman was hit by a stone near the site of clashes, while a man has also received injuries due to a smoke shell.
The clashes in the area were going on when this report was filed. Meanwhile, an official from the police has confirmed the killing of slain Mohammad Amin.
Police Version
Meanwhile, Police in a statement said that it is further informed that the dead bodies of the two militants were retrieved from the site of encounter along with arms and ammunition.
“One of the slain militants has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Ahad Khan, a resident of Brass Arizal Budgam while the other militant has been identified as Mohammad Amin Mir son of Ghulam Rasool Mir resident of Drangbal Pampore,” the spokesman said.
“They were both involved in a series of militant attacks on security establishments in the area. Mukhtar was involved in case FIR No 37/2018 under section 307 RPC, 7/27 Arms Act, 16/18 ULAP Act dated 25.03.2018 in Budgam, while Mohammad Amin was involved in case FIR No 75/2018 under section 18/20/30 ULAP Act at PS Pampore,” the spokesman said.
“In the encounter, one army jawan also sustained injuries and was evacuated to hospital for medical attention. He is stated to be stable. Police has registered a case and investigation has started,” he said.
“Citizens are once again requested not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials. People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosives materials if any,” said police spokesman in a statement.
