Kokernag municipal committee polls: Congress wins ten wards

Srinagar: Congress party has won ten wards in the just concluded polls for the Kokernag municipality committee.

The polling was held for only four wards of the committee while eight candidates were elected unopposed. One ward had no nomination.

Meanwhile, Independent candidates have won two wards.

The counting for the polls that concluded on October 16 began at 8 am today.

For the Srinagar municipal corporation, the counting is being held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar and for the Jammu municipal corporation it is being held at the Polytechnic Institute near Bikram Chowk.

For other districts of the state, counting is being held at the respective district headquarters.
