Years on, Pastuna Tral to Khrew Pompore road still incomplete
SRINAGAR, : Since the years have passed, the Pastuna Tral to Khrew Pompore Road in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district still waits for completion. Residents said that more than 4 years has passed since the government laid foundation stone for the construction of this road.
They said due to unknown reasons the project was stopped.” The aim of this road was to revive the Mughal road along the foot hills of Vasturvan forests to open the doors of tourism and increase the connectivity”, the said.
Pertinently this 10km road estimated at a cost of 16 crore connects the Tral area connecting with Khrew Pompore.
“R&B department only pinned the hope that the project will be completed within two or three years, but almost 4 years passed, and authority is playing hide and seek with us”, locals said.
The road passes through vasturvan forests and the forest department is showing reluctance in clearing the forest. Department has failed to provide clearance to R&B department, however after the completion of one km, the forest officials stopped the work, locals added.
Locals of the area said that the road would serve as an alternative to nearly 50 villages of Tral town. “It will save our time and money. The road will bypass the congested Tral and connects the upper villages of Tral to Khrew Pompore”, they said. (PTK)
