R P School row: Parents allege DSEK of double standard
SRINAGAR : As the directorate of school education Kashmir (DSEK) has suspended the recognition of two reputed private schools— R P School Mallabagh and Green Valley Educational Institute (GVEI) Ellahibagh for arbitrary hike in fee structure, parents allege DSEK of double standard.
Parents of students whose children are studying in RP Schools while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that top schools in Kashmir valley are forcing parents to buy the books in school itself and many schools have made it mandatory but no action is being taken against such schools.
They said, “Some Private schools are looting money in all aspects right from school fees, books, uniforms and study materials. But we have only seen inaction by the DSEK”.
They alleged that the decision of the DSEK is motivated due to which the registration of the RP School have been suspended. They added that some schools in Srinagar charge hefty sums as admission fee and looting parents via other means but they are spared.
Meanwhile people from different society shows their angry on social media your double standard by DSEK. One of the netizen Khan Khawar Achakzai said that, “RP School was suspended by DSEK on the pretext of exorbitant school fees, if judging by those parameters most of the ‘leading’ schools of Kashmir valley should have been suspended a long back because of the Fee they have. Some of them are also located on public land, have their contracts expired and haven’t renewed the lease agreements since decades”.
Meanwhile when contacted Director school education Kashmir G N Itoo, he told Press Trust of Kashmir that the class work cannot remain suspended but schools have to follow rules and regulations.
He further added that the only thing is that apart from academic activities, the government will take over other activities like conducting examinations and some other activities as well.”
Meanwhile when contacted G N Var president Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) he told Press Trust of Kashmir that “if govt is really serious to take action against such school then they should take action against other schools as well’. He added that “govt should take every decision with carefully so that students and parents cab’t be in trouble”.
Pertinently the directorate has last week issued a communiqué to the joint secretary JK Board of school education (BOSE) and Principal district institute of education and training (DIET) Srinagar wherein they have been instructed not to entertain any affair of the schools till further instructions.
The directorate has issued directions to adjust the enrolled students of these two schools in nearby government high and higher secondary schools for ensuing annual 2018 examination.
