3 militants killed in north Kashmir gunfight
Srinagar, At least three unidentified militants were killed in a gunfight in north Kashmir’s Bandipore district on Saturday, officials said.
The gunfight took place at Chandaji forest area, 70 km from Srinagar.
Srinagar-based defence spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia said three militants were killed in the encounter.
“Three terrorists were killed in the operation. Weapons and other war-like stores have been recovered,” the spokesman said.
He said the operation is over.
The identity of the slain militants could not be established immediately.
The anti-militancy operation in the forest area was launched on Thursday after input about militant presence. There was a brief contact between militants and forces on Friday also.
