Govt forces launch search operation in Lal Chowk
Srinagar,: Government forces on Friday carried out a cordon and search operation in the heart of this capital city.
An eye witness said that army men were deployed on high-rise buildings between the historic Ghanta Ghar (clock tower) and Koker Bazar area.
Army personnel and policemen were searching the shops and the buildings in the area. Traffic movement remained suspended between the clock tower and Amira Kadal.
An official said that the CASO was launched following inputs about the presence of militants in the area.
The CASO comes three days after a militant attack in Batmaloo area of the city left a CRPF trooper dead and another injured.
