PDD daily wager dies of electric shock in Sopore

Srinagar: A daily wager employ PDD department died due to electric shock at north Kashmir’s Sopore while repairing the electric line on Saturday, sources said.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Ramzan Lone, (50) S/O Ali Mohammad Lone, a resident of Nowpora, Wagoora in Baramulla district.

Lone was repairing an electric wire at New Colony area of Sopore when he received a shock from a high tension poll and fell on the ground, witnesses said.

Lone was shifted to Sopore Sub District Hospital from where he was referred to Srinagar but he died on way.

Lone was working with PDD Sopore from last 30 years almost as a daily wager.

Soon after Lone’s death, several daily wager employees of the department started protesting in front of the Sopore office and accused the department of negligence. They shouted slogans and demanded “justice”.

Protest was going on when reports last came in.

Meanwhile, Police have registered a case and started investigation.
