Clashes erupt in Pulwama, family demands return of dead body

Srinagar: Clashes broke out between the youth and government on the third consecutive day, today in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the alleged killing of Lajoora missing youth in Tanghdar sector on May 25.

Reports said that the areas including Washbugh Chowk, Dangerpora Chowk and Murran Chowk of the town observed complete shutdown and protested against the alleged killing of the youth.

The protestors pelted government forces with stones and forces retaliated with resorting to teargas shelling to disperse them, triggering further clashes.

Earlier on May 25, the army claimed of killing five militants along LOC in Tangdar who tried to infiltrate and circulated the pictures of the slain militants. In the army statement, the killed militants were stated as foreigners.

But out of the five killed militants, two were claimed by the south Kashmir families. They now demand the return on their bodies.
