A complete shutdown is being observed in North Kashmir’s Hajin town of Bandipore against the killing of a Hajin man.

All the shops, business establishments, government and private offices were closed while traffic was off the road.

Reports said that people are protesting against the gruesome and unabated killings of civilians in Hajin over some time.

According to Yaqoob’s family, five masked men barged into the Yaqoob’s house and his throat was slit in front of his wife and minor son at his home at Prang village on Thursday night. The family said that two of the masked gunmen then worked knives on his throat while the other three caught his wife and seven-year-old son after violently waking them up.

The wife of slain Yaqoob, Shufeena begum said that two of the militants got hold of Yaqoob and started to slit his throat with knives, without saying a word to him. Yaqoob struggled but in vain.

Shaneefa added that masked men caught hold her and her minor son and forced them to see while Yaqoob’s throat was being slitten. Shufeena alleged police refused to come to their rescue and instead sent an ambulance to take her husband’s body away for post-mortem examination.

However, a viral audio message from LeT is circulating from yesterday evening, in the audio message, the militants have denied the killing of Yaqoob, 38 and Hilal Ahmad Parray, 28, who was abducted on May 16, from home at Parray Mohalla Hajin.

The audio clip blamed that it is the handiwork of Indian agencies only to defame the freedom fighters and create a rift between public and militants.

Chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the killing of Hajin man.
