Nirmal Singh elected Speaker of JK Assembly
Srinagar: Former Deputy chief minister and BJP leader, Dr Nirmal Singh was Thursday elected as the new Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.
Official sources said that to elect Singh as the new assembly speaker, minister for Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs, Syed Basharat Ahmed Bukhari moved a motion which was seconded by Deputy Chief Minister Kavinder Gupta.
Members of PDP-BJP and its allies voted in support of the motion. However opposition camp abstained from the voting, they said.
