Police detain, foil marches to civil secretariat

Police on Monday foiled many marches towards civil secretariat including from mainstream political parties. Engineer Rashid with his supporters was arrested with his followers in Srinagar while marching to secretariat. Taking to media before his arrest he said that there should be an immediate end to the civil killings and unconditional cease fire should be announced between security forces and militants.
Earlier Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tried to bring out a protest march and was detained by police. JRL had given a call on Monday to the people to stage peaceful protests near civil secretariat against the innocent killings in Kashmir. Opposition NC also brought out a protest march from their office headquarters at zero bridge. They called for immediate end to the bloodshed In Kashmir and impressed upon central government to sort out Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile Kashmir remained on edge on Monday with JRL call for protests and strike. Internet remained suspended for third running day while police continued restrictions in many parts of Srinagar to stop protests. Authorities had closed all educational institutions in Kashmir valley to avoid protests and violence.
