MVD organises Blood donation camp, Accident Action Management programme

JAMMU, : Continuing with its spree of 29th National Road Safety Week 2018 celebrations, Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) today organised a string of programmes including Blood Donation Camp, Programme on Management of Accident Action, introduction of First Aid and golden hour’s action in the premises of Regional Transport Office, Narwal Jammu.

Conducted in association with the Health Department, Indian Red Cross Society and Red FM 91.9, the programmes were formally inaugurated by Deputy Director, Health Services Jammu, Dr Chander Prakash. Speaking on the occasion, he urged the people to follow the traffic rules and aware them about the steps required in case of the accidents to avoid the aggravation of injuries due to mismanagement in handling the victims. He further elaborated the procedures required to be followed in those critical hours as per the condition of the patient.

Consultant Anaesthetist and Disaster Management Specialist, Red Cross Society, Dr Ranbushan Singh informed about the importance of Blood Donation, physical health and ways and means to lead a healthy life. Stressing on removing the myths associated with blood donation, he called upon more people especially the youngsters to come forward for blood donation and contribute their part in saving precious lives.

Senior Advocate, Nitin Bhasin aware the gathering about the legal ways to help the patient and emphasized on the need to encourage more people in helping those who are striving for their lives. He informed that the  Supreme Court of India has in writ petition ordered that those who take the accidental victims to the nearest hospitals shall not be enquired about unnecessary formalities.

RTO Jammu praised the Health Department and Indian Red Cross Society for rendering their services for the public welfare.

To mark the day, a total of 62 persons donated the blood including RTO, ARTO’s, Staff Members, Members of Transport Associations and officials of the Department.

The group head Shekhar and RJ Vasudha from Red FM 91.9 also interacted with the blood donors.
