Gautam Gambhir has stepped down as captain of Delhi Daredevils after team’s dismal performance in the ongoing IPL season.
Shreyas Iyer now will lead the GMR-owned franchise.
Gambhir said that he couldn’t handle the pressure.
Gambhir has been named skipper of the struggling Daredevils who — coming off the 2017 IPL season in which they finished sixth on the points table with six wins from 14 games — again face a very tough road ahead to qualify for the play-offs.
They currently languish at the bottom of the IPL 11 with one win from six matches.
Daredevils coach Ricky Ponting, CEO Hemant Dua, outgoing captain Gambhir held a press conference at the Feroz Shah Kotla to announce the new captain of the team. (Agencies)
