Kathua rape case: Students protest across Kashmir to demand punishment for guilty

Srinagar  :  Students of Government Degree College Islamabad on Monday held a protest demonstration against the rape and murder of eight-year-old nomadic girl Asifa, a resident of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Scores of the students assembled inside the college premises shouting pro-freedom slogans against the gruesome incident and demanded punishment for the guilty.

The students of Kashmir University staged a protest at the campus and demanded justice for the victim.

Reports said that students from various departments assembled at the campus and staged a demonstration to seek justice for the girl.

Scores of members of Kashmir High Court Bar Association held a protest march in Srinagar as a mark of solidarity with the victim.

They also raised slogans against Jammu bar Association for trying to shield the culprits.

At Central University of Kashmir, Nowgam, scores of law students assembled in the varsity while holding placards that read: ‘Punish the culprits and ‘Justice for the victim’

Meanwhile, scores of members of various trade bodies in north Kashmir’s Sopore town sopore staged a protest against the gang-rape of the girl.

The protesters also demanded death penalty for the culprits.

Thousands of students from various educational institutions including students from GDC Doda Monday staged a strong protest at District Hqr Doda in Chenab Valley region, demanding justice for eight-year-old Kathua rape and murder victim.

The students were seen holding placards in their hands, depicting different messages calling for justice in the case of Kathua rape and murder case.
