Illegal constructions go unabated across Srinagar city

SRINAGAR,: The illegal constructions are going on unabated in full swing across Srinagar city. Sources told Press Trust of Kashmir that some people in-connection with land mafia are involved in illegal constructions in various parts of parts of the Srinagar including Rainawari, Saida Kadal, Bypass, Harwan, Nigeen, Nishat, Shalimar, Kanitar, Rainawari , Bemina, and Ali Jan road.
Sources further told Press Trust of Kashmir that in many cases authorities are fully aware of it but they remain silent as they have been bribed for facilitating all these illegal acts.
Reports reached to Press Trust of Kashmir that from past few days people have raised illegal structures in many parts of Rainawari areas and its surrounding areas.
Meanwhile sources confirmed Press Trust of Kashmir that illegal structures are being also constructed around Shalimar, Nishat, Harwan and its adjacent areas. “Encroachers are also constructing houses, shops and walls without any valid permission either from SMC or LAWDA”, sources added.
Meanwhile locals from Rainawari while taking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that these officials have been guiding encroachers and land grabbers. They alleged that the higher authorities are in slumber as unscrupulous persons are taking advantage of the prevalent situation by raising illegal constructions, said a local at Nishat where a large number of structures are coming up amidst restrictions
Another person from Rainawari while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that constructions are coming up in areas such as Saida Kadal, interiors of Dal Lake also where the government has prohibited constructional activities.
“Even on the outskirts of Srinagar such as Soura unscrupulous persons are raising illegal constructions”, locals said.
However locals from Nishat told Press Trust of Kashmir said that SMC is not in a position to take action against encroachers and mafia even against their corrupted employees. They have appealed, Vigilance Organisation Kashmir and demanded to probe into this issue as well and take immediate necessary measures for demolition of these illegal structures.
Official in SMC while talking to Press Trust of Kashmir said that they will take action against the violators, if any.
