After eight suspected militants killed, protests erupt

Latest reports from villages of Kachdora and Dragadh of Shopian said that intense clashes were going on between youth and security forces near the both gunfight sites. Local reports said that security forces and police were using pellets and tear smoke shells on protesters. Local reporters from the area confirmed that dozens of youth were being shifted to hospitals with injuries. Reports further said that many youth with pellet injuries in their eyes were shifted to Srinagar for specialised treatment.
While police told media that seven militants were killed in the encounter at Dragadh village of Shopian, reports said that toll could me more including some civilians. Police said that three army men were also wounded in the gunfight.
Earlier police said that a local militant commander Rouf Bashir Khanday was killed while his colleague Imran Rashid was arrested alive after a brief encounter in a village near Dielgham in South Kashmir.
With reports of more and more protests and violence near the gunfight sites in South Kashmir authorities have suspended internet services and train services immediately to avoid more damage. More details are awaited.
