Protests continue in KU against disappearance of student.

Protests continued at the Kashmir University on the third consecutive today against the “disappearance” of a student of Earth Sciences Department, even as the varsity authorities appealed for a calm.

Appealing students to maintain calm inside the varsity, University of Kashmir on Wednesday said it is equally concerned about the whereabouts of a second semester student of Earth Sciences Department.

In a statement, a varsity spokesman said that a second semester student namely Sameer Ahmad Dar from the Department of Earth Sciences is reported missing from 19th March 2018, after leaving from his residence in Kakpora, Pulwama.

“The University has already written to the Director General of Police on March 24, requesting him to have the whereabouts of the student ascertained at an earliest. The offices of the Hon’ble Chancellor and Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor have also been informed about the instant case,” said the spokesperson.

In an appeal to the students to maintain calm, spokesperson said; “We request the agitating students to maintain calm and cooperate till the police ascertains the whereabouts of the student.”
