West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee is in New Delhi from today for the next four days where she will be meeting leaders of 18 political parties.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, JD-S chief HD Deve Gowda, apart from leaders from the RJD, TDP and TRS.

Conspicuous by its absence is the Congress party. Mamata Banerjee has apparently refused to meet Rahul Gandhi during this visit, as she claims that the Congress president is Left-leaning and is therefore more in line with CPI-M chief Sitaram Yechury’s school of thought.

All the 35 Trinamool Congress MPs are at the Bango Bhavan in New Delhi with Banerjee. While Arvind Kejriwal is batting for Kamal Haasan’s Makkal Needhi Maiam, this third front is characterised by its mostly anti Congress, anti BJP stance.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar and his daughter Supriya Sule will be hosting a dinner for Mamata Banerjee tonight. The three will quite likely deliberate on politics with the Lok Sabha polls so near. TMC MPs Sudip Bandopadhyay and Dinesh Trivedi drove to Pawar’s residence to work out the exact time and menu of the dinner. (Agencies)
