Much awaited test on functioning of Kishanganga Hydroelectric Plant failed, triggers panic

SRINAGAR, : A much awaited test on the functioning of Kishanganga Hydroelectric Plant in Bandipora ironically failed on Sunday evening which triggered Panic among the population.

Reports said that after when hundreds of liters of water leaked all of a sudden from the water project tunnel created panic around the surrounding area residents.

NHPC which is taking up the construction of 330 Megawatt KGHEP at Malik-Kadal and Kralpora in Gurez and Bandipora respectively has started leakage after when the authorities tested it on Intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

The project involves construction of a 37 m high concrete faced rock fill dam and a underground powerhouse. Leakage of the water on Sunday-Monday at NHPC has created panic at Check, Kralpora and adjoining villages living below the NHPC dam.

People said that they had sleepless nights as the gushing of the water from the 2km dam of the NHPC project is giving nightmares.
