PHC Aripal Tral lacks basic health facilities

Aripal: A Public Health Center at Aripal Tral which caters to 60,000 souls is still lacking health care facilities even after 52 years of its establishment.
Residents of the area said that more than 20 villages in the hamlet were suffering due to the callous attitude of authorities towards the PHC. The villages include, Gutroo, Waged, Gadpora, Basabtpora, Narastan, Hajin, Lam, Satoora, Khangund, Aripal, Daar and adjoining villages.
Officials posted at Aripal PHC said that the health center lacks the entire basic infrastructure required for smooth functioning.
“Two patients are forced to occupy a single bed. Dogs and cattle roam inside the hospital premises or even sometimes enter into the building.”
Doctors also complained lack of separate room for them.
“Without the proper and separate room for female doctors, how can they be asked to be present for nigh duty? It ultimately affects health care here.”
The officials there also said that last month during the strike by NRHM staff, a gynecologist was shifted to SDH Tral to meet the shortage of doctors and ironically the dentist was treating the patients who come there for different complications.
They also said that the X-ray machine is lying defunct from many months since it developed some technical snag.
Abdul Hammed lone, a local resident said that despite several appeals to higher officials, nothing has been done so far.
“Are not we humans? Why is government providing step motherly attitude towards the area. We are forced to take patients to SDH Tral which is more than 15 kilometers away,” he said while demanding chief minister’s intervention in this regard.
Chief medical officer Pulwama, Talat Jabeen told Kashmir Reader that the there is no sanction of PHC for Aripal but a subsidiary health center and said facilities are provided as per feasibility and sanctioned posts.
“The construction of new building is going one and it will take several months more. We have no sanctioned posts for X-Ray technician and driver but despite that we send drivers there to carry the patients to the other hospitals,” she said.
