Kohli inspects Sheep Products Dev Board, Stock Asstt Training Class, Disease Investigation Lab in Jmu

JAMMU, JANUARY 27: Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli today visited Sheep & Sheep Products Development Board, Jammu and took stock of its functioning.

He also inspected Stock Assistants Training Class and Disease Investigation Lab of Sheep Husbandry at Kartholi Bari Brahmna and enquired about the facilities available in these units.

The Minister was apprised that 15623 different types of blood sera, faecal samples etc. of sheep and goat have been analysed so far. He was also informed that presently 5.63 kg lakh wool is available and an amount of Rs 2. 5 cr have been earned against the wool sale so far by the Board.

          During the visit to Central Artificial Breeding Station, Hakkal Jammu, the Minister was apprised that the Station has a capacity of 10 lakh doses and at present about 5 lakh doses are prepared and distributed in Jammu province at a cost of Rs 30 per dose.

During 2016-2017, 3.88 lakh semen doses were prepared and earned revenue of Rs 1.14 crore. He was further apprised that 3.30 lakh doses were prepared at a cost of Rs 82 lakh during the current fiscal. He was also informed that there are different varieties of in demons at the Station.

          The Minister directed for up-gradation of Lab with modern facilities and also asked the concerned for preparing of Detailed Project Report (DPR) in this regard and submit the same to the concerned quarter for arrangement of funds.

Kohli directed the concerned to work with utmost dedication and come up with the expectations of the people and ensure to educate livestock rearers about the latest techniques and the schemes meant for their welfare.

 He urged officers to work in synergy and adopt modern techniques to make the State of Jammu and Kashmir sufficient in mutton, eggs, poultry and milk etc to reduce import of these items from other States .

He also directed for organizing of massive awareness camps  so that common people and unemployed youth will take benefits of the schemes of the department.

Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Kewal Krishan, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu Kranti Sharma, Joint Director Sheep Husbandry Sanjive Kumar and other Senior Officer of Animal and Sheep Husbandry Departments were accompanied with the Minister.
