Republic Day Celebrated in Kargil with full spirit of Patriotism

,KARGIL:_Amidst chilling cold Republic Day was celebrated here today at Kargil with immense patriotic fervor and gaiety. Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan unfurled the national tricolor at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium and took salute at an impressive march past comprising of the contingents of Jammu and Kashmir Police, NCC, civil and police band parties besides a number of contingents of government and private educational institutions. Thousands of men and women thronged the stadium to witness the celebrations despite biting cold.

Addressing a mammoth gathering of the general public after unfurling the tricolour Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan while congratulating the people on the 69th Republic Day recalled the contributions the framers of the Constitution and supreme sacrifices of the national heroes who laid down their lives for the freedom and wellbeing of the countrymen.

He also praised the services of the army, paramilitary forces and police in guarding the frontiers of the country in harsh weather conditions and for maintaining the internal security of the country.

Talking about the announcement of Zojila Tunnel and ATR service for Kargil, Kacho thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Mehbooba Muifti and the local leaders.

Meanwhile Speaking about peace in Kashmir he said that the Government should initiate dialogue with Pakistan. He also thanked centre government for nominating Dineshwar Sharma as interlocuter in J&K.

Among others who were present on the occasion included Executive Councillor for Education Advocate Muhammad Amir, Executive Councillor Muhammad Hussain, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Gulzar Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police Kargil T Galpo, Brigade Commander 121 Infantry Brigade, councillors, senior civil, police and army officers, representatives of religious, social and political organizations and a large number of general public.

Colourful cultural programmes were also presented on the occasion and prizes were also distributed among the participants. Thousands of local men and women folk in their colorful traditional attire witnessed the celebrations.
