JU organises awareness programme on “Development of Blockchain Technology”

Jammu, January 23: The Department of Lifelong Learning and Department of Computer Sciences and IT, University of Jammu today organised an awareness programme on “Development of Blockchain  Technology” in the Department of Computer Science & IT here today.Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu and Director, Directorate of Quality Assurance, University of Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. Mr. Sunny Mattoo, Chapter Leader, Government Blockchain Association was the resource person of the programme. 

While welcoming the chief guest, Prof. Vinod Sharma, Head of Department, Department of Computer Sciences and IT said that it was really a privilege to host such an informative lecture for the students of both Computer Science and Rural Development. He hoped that the students would learn a lot about blockchain technology from this session in this era of technological advances.

Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu, in her address said that it is a great thing to see that two departments are collaborating for academic reasons for the benefits of the students. She said the students would learn a lot about this new technology which would be quite useful for them in future.
“Learning about this subject, it would open your minds to question. You may not get answers now but you would start searching for answers about this,”said Dr. Kilam exhorting the students to apply their minds and adopt technologies for development and growth.

Mr. Sunny Mattoo, in an elaborate presentation, talked about blockchain technology. He said blockchain is an undeniably ingenious invention – the brainchild of a person or group of people. It has evolved into something greater, and the main question every single person is asking is: What is Blockchain?
By allowing digital information to be distributed but not copied, blockchain technology created the backbone of a new type of internet,said Mr Mattoo.

Dr. Kavita Suri,Director DLL presented a formal Vote of thanks.The faculty and staff members of Department of Computer Science and IT and Department of Lifelong Learning were also present at the occasion besides over 100 students of both the departments.
