University campus of Hazratbal losing sheen

Once described as the most beautiful campus of the world by famous journalist and columnist Khushwant Singh, Hazratbal campus of university of Kashmir is falling prey to greed of contractors and university authorities. Lush green path ways right from the entrance of the main gate known as Rumi Gate are being replaced by cement and concrete footpaths. Naseem Bagh campus which has beautiful green paths has been witnessing lot of constructions, making the Chinars vulnerable to decay.
In this month of January contractors are busy filling the lush green paths with concrete material giving an ugly look to the main entrance of university campus. Naseem Bagh has visible eyesores including university guest house and some under construction huge buildings.
Management of the university is busy in their own work on the tables and it would be too late when there would be very little left in the beautiful campus of University of Kashmir. All successive vice chancellors have only added to the concrete structures within the campus and the famous water canal which was passing through the main campus to Naseem Bagh and then finally flowing into dal lake has been filled since. Dozen of Chinars are under the impact of growing constructions resulting in the decay of many of them. In this story there are pictures of this empathy towards the lush green campus by the authorities.
