On Wednesday union cabinet approved the construction of Zogilla pass tunnel and it has enthused people of Ladakh region as they believe it would be a game changer for their development and tourism.
Although it was sanctioned few years back but no company came forward to construct this Asia’s longest bi-directional Zogilla pass tunnel due to harsh weather conditions in the region.
Tourist players of Ladakh region said that when this tunnel would be completed the distance between Srinagar and Leh would be reduced from current 4 hours to 15 minutes and it would be a all weather road for the region. 14.2 km long tunnel project would be an engineering marvel and would be of great help to the defence forces as this tunnel will ensure supplies to border posts especially with China during the winter months.
