Temperatures dip as severe winter sets in

Severe winter has freezed almost all the places in Kashmir valley and ladakh region as during the previous night kargil witnessed minus 15.8 Celsius. According to the MET office the skies will remain clear and weather dry, so there would be more chill and minus temperatures in the area. MET office said that temperatures in leh town of ladakh region during the previous night were recorded as minus 13.2. Similarly ski resort of Gulmarg which has witnessed heavy snow fall previously continued to be freezing in these days of December.
Srinagar city woke up to freezing temperatures today with water taps dried up due to minus temperature. Due to severe winter conditions and chill traffic was resumed on Srinagar Jammu highway after few hours of morning disruption. Although traffic has resumed on this highway but it is still partially open with one way traffic. After the recent heavy snowfall authorities have closed down Srinagar Leh highway, Bandipora Gurez highway and Rajouri Shopian road also known as Mughal road for the winters.
