DDC Pulwama reviews winter preparedness, snow clearance plan

PULWAMA : District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar today convened a meeting to review the action plan regarding winter preparedness and snow clearance arrangements in the district.

Among others, the meeting was attended by ADC Pulwama, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, Mechanical Engineering, ARTO, DySP HQ, AD FCS&CA, and other concerned officers and officials.

The meeting was informed that men and machinery have been kept ready to meet any eventuality. It was given out that a control room at District Information Centre Pulwama   has been established and snow-clearance machinery has been kept in a position of readiness.

The Assistant Director FCS&CA informed the meeting that sufficient stock has been dumped at 48 winter centres in the district which remain inaccessible during heavy snowfall.DDC directed Assistant Director FCS&CA to lift all the essential stocks well in advance from Srinagar for the month of January to March so that the same can be dumped at District Head Quarters and be distributed in case any eventuality.

On the occasion, the DDC directed the PDD authorities for adopting a concrete mechanism to ensure supply of power as per schedule. He directed for stringent action against those found involved in using illegal power connections.

He also took stock of the medical facility being provided to the patients in the hospitals. He directed the health administration to ensure better medicare facilities to the patients. He also directed the concerned to ensure proper sanitation measures in and around the hospitals. He asked CMO to maintain adequate stock of medicines for the winter months.

The DDC further directed the concerned authorities to activate the control rooms and equip them with adequate manpower to cater to the needs of the general public. The DDC said that there is need of effective coordination among all the concerned Departments for effective implementation of the master plan for snow clearance. He directed the officers to remain available to people for early redressal of public grievances and stay at Headquarters for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations.
